TVKC classes are open to all dogs. We cannot accept dogs with aggressive behavior in our

Obedience Class Descriptions
Puppy class - Puppies who have never attended a formal
training class learn social skills (playing nice and visiting), obedience
basics and grooming. Deals with problems new owners are having with their
puppy. Must be over 2 months old and have first shots. We are using the AKC STAR puppy program
for 2-12 month old dogs where they
may earn the puppy Canine Good Citizen title.
Canine Good citizen/basic obedience –for dogs six
months or older to learn or review obedience exercises and canine social skills
which every good dog should know. Emphasis on the skills needed to pass the
Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. Dogs who pass the CGC test given in the last class will earn the AKC CGC
title.
Novice Trialing class – for dog and handler
planning to enter AKC Novice competition events, or handlers who want to do
more training with their dog. Prerequisite: CGC title or instructor's
permission.
Advanced Trialing class - Open/ Utility – for dogs and handlers working
to compete in Open and Utility levels. Prerequisite: trialing at Novice level or instructors
permission.
Fundamental skills for advanced obedience –
Beginning training in Open and Utility exercises. Prerequisite: the handler has
seen advanced obedience and wants to train to compete at that level; the dog should
have Novice skills or instructor's permission.
Group Obedience practice – no instructor, handlers
must be TVKC members, limited to 10 handlers who may run multiple dogs, (2-hour
session Friday night, 7:00-9:00).
Rally Class Descriptions
Rally Novice – Teaches the stations used in AKC Rally trials and how to run a course
and enter an AKC show. - Prerequisite - CGC or basic obedience class.
Rally Advanced / Excellent - Prerequisite – RN
title or instructor's permission.
